More Pirate Lessons From the Fish Tank (Birthday Party)

I ended up with a beautiful fish tank set up at home as a result of the "critter rescue" that occurred exactly a week before.  What was an eventful Saturday night critter set up the week prior, turned into another eventful Saturday night, but for another reason-A VERY DIFFERENT REASON.  I had just introduced another Molly into the tank, and within five minutes I had baby Mollies!  I was not expecting this and I was certainly not prepared!  I had no idea that there were fish that gave live birth.  I was fortunate to be able to catch most of the process both in video and pictures while trying to net the fish above.

I did my best in the stressful situation to save what babies that I could after an 11 pm trip to Walmart to get netting to protect them and I had saved two of them.  I never imagined this situation to produce so many learning opportunities, let alone for me.  I can honestly say I have learned a TON in this entire process.  On Monday, we had another #tlap lesson.  We celebrated the 2nd day of life for the two baby mollies that had survived.  Our party consisted of:  party hats, streamers, balloons, cupcake, candles, bubbles, and goldfish for a treat (even BABY goldfish!)  Students seemed to really enjoy it.  I was really surprised with how well they played along.
